Description
Topsoil and the underlying silty clays (alluvium) were removed from field 6 using Hymacs and dumptrucks. This material was not bottomed, the excavations removing it to a depth of c.1.5m across the site. The site was visited once a week during the stripping period. Only one artefact was recovered and was interpreted as a tooth of a recent arable implement and of no historical significance. (1)
See E9102 for trial trenching
