Description

Trench 06 ... was placed in between the quarry hollow and the NW field boundary, and extended for a total length of 30m [by 2m wide] … the trench was subsequently extended 3m by hand at the E end. The W end was also extended manually by 6m. A 2x6m extension was dug by hand along the N edge of the trench. Trench 07 … was aligned at an oblique angle to the first trench, along the projected course of ditch 0006. Topsoil was removed from a 34x5m trench by a 5ft ditching bucket on the back actor of a JCB.
