Description

TPAT were asked to investigate findings of juman remains in the back garden of 28, Church Street, Whatton. The owner had been digging out a large area behind his house in order to build a fish pond. A rectangular trench (approx 5m x 2.5m) had already been dug to varying depths before excavations began. The N and E corners were already down to the intended depth of the fish pond (just over 1m beneath the surface). The aim of the excavation was to remove the soil archaeologically in the area of the fishpond and to record and remove for analysis, the human remains and any other artefacts.
