Description

An archaeological watching brief when construction commenced. The site was visited on several occasions when ground clearance began in March and April 1992. Nothing of archaeological interest was seen. There was a delay until October 1992 when foundations were dug for the steel frame. Nine section faces were selected for recording by drawing and photograph. Heavy disturbance by earlier modern buildings, drains and dumping of material was observed in most of the foundation pits which were up to 1m deep. (1) Grid ref taken from document 258 as the site plan in doc 263 is useless for locating the site, although the two plans do not match up at all and thus the watching brief may not actually have been at this location.
