Description

Evaluation … a machine trench was dug 40m long and 1 - 2m wide on a SW / NE alignment from the old bank of the River Trent close to the N wall of the concrete kiln store. The overburden was 1.37 - 2.2m deep and consisted of modern clinker and ash with occasional plastic sacks. Below this was river gravel except at the NE end of the trench were a 17m length of the buried old river channel was seen. No evidence of any archaeological features. (1)
