Description
Following an enquiry from the tenant farmer via a Farnsfield local history group we examined an obvious earthwork in a field NW of the farm buildings. … no structures were found in our limited trenching but a considerable depth of peaty deposit overlaying a natural gravel base … A test pit dug at the highest point of the interior yielded only the stratified layers thrown up in creating the the outer ditch.
