Description

Following an enquiry from the tenant farmer via a Farnsfield local history group we examined an obvious earthwork in a field NW of the farm buildings. … no structures were found in our limited trenching but a considerable depth of peaty deposit overlaying a natural gravel base … A test pit dug at the highest point of the interior yielded only the stratified layers thrown up in creating the the outer ditch. (2) Interim report and plan in TVARC files. Old Mansfield Society (now SAS) involved.
