Description

The excavation, directed by Dr Kennedy, consisted of a 0.6m wide, 12m long trench across the line of the road to the top of its metalling with a further area towards its southern end extended to the west by 4.1m and excavated to between 1.6 and 3.1m wide; though only a small area was cleared to a sufficient depth to expose the southern part of the timber raft.
