Description

Excavation took the form of a 1m wide trench eventually 19m long, with a 1m by 1.3m partially excavated extension to the east in the area of the timber raft. For a variety of practical reasons the trench width was reduced, mainly on the east and by up to 30cm in the vicinity of the timber raft, while excavation within the trench ceased at different levels in different areas. The majority of the timbers encountered were left in situ. (1) See E383 and E9115 for further excavations.
