Description

The survey comprised a combination of topsoil magnetic susceptibility field sensing and magnetometry. In situ magnetic susceptibility readings were taken on a 10m grid. Routine scanning by gradiometer was undertaken at 25m traverse intervals to check for any major concentrations of underlying archaeological features whose presence may not have been detected by the topsoil susceptibility survey. A single area measuring 90x60m was targeted for detailed gridded gradiometer survey. (1) See E8985 for finds made during this survey, E9396 for fieldwalking, E9397 for test pit, E9399 for geophysical survey to S.
