Description

A 360 degree tracked excavator was used to strip the site. This was fitted with an appropriate toothless ditching bucket and was employed to remove the overburden on the site. A large area was stripped including the whole enclosure and the majority of the known ditches to the E of the enclosure. Following stripping and cleaning a sample of the archaeological features exposed were excavated. (1) See E9428 for geophysical survey, E9429 for fieldwalking, E9289 for trial trenching.
