Description

Each area was divided into a series of 10m squares. All finds were recovered, including pottery and other artefacts of post medieval date. Only a small area of the field was available for fieldwalking as much of the field was under winter crop. The area that could be walked was in two strips; one approximately 20m wide along the S boundary and one 5m wide along the N boundary. The S strip was harrowed on the morning, with fieldwalking taking place in the afternoon, so this surface was unweathered. (1) Grid ref centred on the southern strip. See E9428 for geophysical survey, E9289 for trail trenching, E9427 for excavation.
