Description

After completion of the excavations in 1997 it was decided to keep a "Watching Brief" on the site prior to the proposed expansion of the quarry and provision of an access road. A mechanical excavator was used to remove all the topsoil down to the sand and gravel to facilitate a further archaeological evaluation. (1) Grid reference general as no valid location details provided in the 'report', no scale or grid lines on the 'plan' and no other locational indicators. See E9427 for earlier excavations in the quarry and cross refs, E9431 for fieldwalking nearby.
