Description

Twenty four test pits were excavated by machine to sand and gravel to assess the depth and quality of peat deposits and the potential for information about landscape formation. Seven trenches were stripped of ploughsoil, with ditches box sectioned in each trench. Ro pottery was found in all bar two trenches (unclear which). (1) Grid ref centred. See Elements for those trenches which produced archaeological results. See E9436 for fieldwalking, E9438 for geophysical survey, E9441 for watching brief.
