Description

Archaeological evaluation of land east of Hawton Lane, an area c.120m x 20m in extent. The aim of the evaluation was to determine if palaeolithic activity survived within the area of the proposed flood storage pit. 35 test pits were placed within a triangular area of the proposed flood storage capacity tank. An evaluation trench was positioned between test pits 2 and 3 for the purposes of observing the sequence of soil horizons and to obtain environmental samples. (1)
