Description

Archaeological recording of a weir on the River Meden. The Estate was intending to divert the course of the river around the weir and to drain it to allow the weir's walling to be repaired and to remove material from the river bed to improve water flow. A variety of features were uncovered during the drainage of the river and then the bypass channel, once that had become redundant. The conditions of the recording, far from ideal, were in part 'rescue archaeology' and in part watching brief whilst work was taking place at the weir. (1)
