Description

The aims of the evaluation were to determine the location, extent, date, character and state of preservation of any archaeological remains surviving within the Study Area. Sixty trenches were excavated along the route of the proposed development. Informed by the results of the geophysical survey, these were positioned to define areas of possible archaeological sensitivity, and also to confirm the absence of features where no positive results were obtained. (1) See E9469 for geophysical survey, E9505 for watching brief, E8979 for test pits.
