Description

An archaeological watching brief was carried out on the Smite Aqueduct. The construction work comprised the blocking of the canal and excavation around the aqueduct. A concrete saddle was placed over the existing arch brickwork and behind the portal walls. The aqueduct had been identified as unstable and extensive consolidation work was required to protect the structure. (1)
