Description

A new extension to the N elevation of the church. The methodology was altered on the first day on site. The presence of a cellar in the centre of the excavation area necessitated the removal of considerably more material than originally expected. It was agreed that the work should be undertaken as a continuous watching brief, rather than an excavation, with the contractor responsible for excavation of the foundation and service trenches. The entire footprint of the extension to the church was excavated with a mini-digger with a toothless ditching bucket. (1)
