Description

The test pit (ref BG13TP8) was a 1x1m square to a depth of 70cm on the lesser green, dug by hand in 10cm spits; all spits were 100% sieved and all spits were recorded on context sheets, including finds. A photo was taken of spit 6 showing a cobbled surface which was half-sectioned in the north quadrant, revealing natural clay. (1)
