Description

The test pit (ref BG13TP18) was a 1x1m square to a depth of 50cm on the lesser green, dug by hand in 10cm spits; all spits were 100% sieved and all spits were recorded on context sheets, including finds. At 40-50cms a cobble stone surface was found with a definite edge along the north –east edge. A photo was taken of spit 5 demonstrating the above (1).
