Description

An archaeological desk-based assessment and heritage statement has been prepared for land at Hockerton Road, Hockerton, Nottinghamshire. The assessment was commissioned in advance of the proposed development of the site for two new dwellings. The site is currently a former kitchen garden and orchard associated with an old rectory, which lies adjacent to the site in the centre of Hockerton. The site is very close to the Grade II* ( St. Nicholas’s Church and Manor Farm)and Grade II listed buildings. The report identifies a set of medieval earthworks around 150m south-east of the assessment area – consisting of irregular banks and ditches and there are also traces of medieval village buildings. The report contains a map regression exercise and photos from a site visit.
