Description

An archaeological desk-based assessment has been produced for land at Central College, Greythorn Drive, West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire. The assessment was commissioned in advance of the proposed construction of residential housing on the site. At the time of the report the site was occupied by the Central College buildings and associated car parking and sports fields. The report highlights a bronze age find spot (Acton Park copper alloy palstave), and Neolitic hand axe which were found within the study area, and Roman and Medieval pottery has been found on a site near Clifton Bridge. The report states that aside from the aforementioned that there are few other known archaeological remains within the study area. Documentary sources such as the HER were consulted and the report concludes that there is low potential for archaeology within in the development area. A map regression and a site visit took place as part of the study, accompanying images are within the report.
