Description

GK Heritage Ltd was commissioned by St Modwen to prepare a heritage assessment for a planning application at land and buildings, Newmanleys Road, Eastwood, Nottingham. The assessment comprises a comprehensive collation and examination of evidence held in NCC HER and other historic resources. The site comprises two distinct plots, which lay to the east and west of Newmanleys Road The Nottinghamshire Historic Environment Record records no finds or features dating to either the Prehistoric or Roman Period within 500m of the site. The study states that the Eastwood area was likely to have been a small medieval settlement in a wooded area. The post medieval saw an increase in local population and development of villages in surrounding areas. The report describes the development of the area, land use etc, from the post – medieval period through to modern times. The report contains a map regression exercise and ariel photographs of the site. The study finds the archaeological potential of the proposed development site to be low, and states that the impact of the development is likely to have any impact on the grade II listed buildings in the surrounding area.
