Description

An archaeological strip, map and record exercise took place on land at Woodborough Park Farm during the excavation of an access track (110m x 4m)and crane pad (20m x 16m) for the transportation and installation of a wind turbine. Results were largely negative showing a simple stratigraphic make up within both areas. No archaeological features or finds of merit or importance. Much of the early activity in this area was to the east and northeast of Fox Wood. It is possible that this sterile area was an intentional element of the Iron Age hillfort at Fox Wood.
