Description

Retford Liberal Club is in the centre of the town, on the west side of Beardsall’s Row. The subsequent groundworks were monitored by the author on June 7th 2006. The foundation trenches were excavated by hand to a width of 0.6m and a maximum depth of 1.2m below the modern ground surface. The deposits exposed were of limited archaeological significance. They relate to the construction and demolition of buildings associated with the existing Liberal Club.
