Description

The site is located to the north west of the town, immediately north east of Randall Park Way, where it forms a rectangular arable field measuring 7200sqm. The methodology required that a total of 120m of evaluation trenching target the main development area. This resulted in four 30m trenches. No archaeological features or deposits were recorded; it is possible that ploughing of the site in past times may have destroyed any surviving archaeological features or deposits. The site is also quite a way from the historic core of Retford and the land may have been used for less intrusive purposes in the past and which have left no evidence.
