Description

The site comprises approximately 12.7ha of agricultural farmland situated to the north of Rempstone Lane, on the Southern edge of East Leake, Nottinghamshire. The site is bounded to the south by Rempstone Road, and to the north, east and west by hedgerows. The work involved the excavation of thirteen trenches, all of which measured 50m by 2m. The trenches were positioned to target potential anomalies identified during the previous geophysical survey, as well as to test blank areas across the remaining areas of the study site. The previous geophysical survey suggested that there was no archaeological activity in this area. This was confirmed by the trial trenching. The only feature identified was a modern drainage ditch in one trench of no archaeological interest.
