Description
The village of North Leverton forms part of the Nottinghamshire parish of North Leverton with Habblesthorpe, situated c. 8km east of Retford and 3.5km west of the River Trent. The 0.35 hectare application site is located to the south of Main Street and to the west of the settlement core.
The scope of the monitoring works comprised six separate house plots and associated drainage.
A single medieval pit of early to mid 14th-century date was identified on the central-western side of the site. However, no other significant archaeological deposits or features were exposed, and the results of monitoring and recording suggest that the majority of the site had occupied the periphery of any medieval settlement associated with Main Street.
