Description

The site is located to the west of Aslockton. The survey area is approximately 4.5 hectares of recently sown crop. The survey area is generally flat with no obstructions. The magnetic survey was carried out using a dual sensor Grad601-2 Magnetic Gradiometer manufactured by Bartington Instruments Ltd.Readings were taken at 0.25m centres along traverses 1m apart. This equates to 3600 sampling points in a full 30m x 30m grid. The survey at Aslockton did not identify any anomalies of probable archaeological origin. Anomalies possibly related to former field boundaries or agricultural activity have been identified; however it is not possible to determine their origin with any degree of confidence. The remaining anomalies are modern, relating to a service trench, ferrous objects and fencing.
