Description
The c.0.73ha proposed development site lies between the A46, with the modern course of the road forming its south-eastern boundary. It is within the western corner of a larger (c.1.6ha) sub-rectangular pasture field that is bounded on all sides by hedges with open drains. The entire field was targeted for survey.
The survey was undertkane using the Bartington 601 Dual Fluxgate Gradiometer. The zigzag traverse method of survey was used, with readings taken at 0.25m intervals along 1.0m wide traverses.
For the most part, the recorded magnetic variation is probably of natural or recent origin, although a group of anomalies within the development footprint exhibit some potential as buried pits.
It is concluded on the basis of the survey results presented that the site has limited archaeological potential.
