Description

The site is located 9km south-east of Worksop and 4km north of Ollerton. The survey area is bounded to the west by Blyth Road, to the north by an unnamed road and to the south by the River Meden. The site surveyed was 8.5 hectares. Detailed magnetic survey (magnetometry) was chosen as the most efficient and effective method of locating the type of archaeological anomalies which might be expected at this site. Bartington Cart System. Traverse Interval 1.0m. Sample Interval 0.125m. The magnetometer survey has not recorded any magnetic responses that could be interpreted as being of definite archaeological interest. Several anomalies are visible which have been assigned to the category of uncertain; these are likely to have been caused by a combination of agricultural and natural processes. Responses of natural origin have also been plotted in the magnetic data.
