In 1974 excavations were carried out by the Department of Archaeology at Nottingham University. This area is referred to as cutting 1 in the present report and was situated in Bay 2 of the Front Range, extending into Bay 1 of the South Wing. (3) See E9277 for cuttings 2 - 4
