Full Description

A number of local residents remember a pillbox at this site, which was once the local rifle-range. The pillbox has now been demolished, probably during the last 20 years. The purpose of the pillbox is unclear. It might have been built in connection with nearby Collingham railway station. However, it seems more likely that it was built in connection with the rifle range for training purpose [The planned route of the GHQ Line followed the River Trent N from Newark and lies just to the W of this site].
