Full Description

This 100m x 2m trench was located so as to cross geophysical survey areas H and I to the south of Mons Pool parallel to the field road which forms the northern boundary of the application site east of Trench 6. Archaeological features included an major irregularly shaped ditch orientated northeast – southwest along with other minor ditches and gullies . Finds included Iron Age pottery sherds, a large quantities of Romano-British pottery of the 2nd – 4th century including Central Gaulish stamped Samian Ware and animal bones. (1)
