Full Description

During Phase 3, several areas were identified for archaeological investigation. At the site of BES/04 the overburden was stripped to provide a c.125m long east-west section through the Phase 3 deposits. Three features were identified and recorded in the eastern half of the section but not excavated. These features were interpreted as being pits or possibly ditches/gullies. A single feature cut into the top of the gravel was recorded in plan and excavation revealed an oval pit c. 1.00m by 1.50m and 0.25m deep. (1)
