Full Description

Trench 3 was excavated 6.5m from the north side of the church. At a depth of 0.7m, a deposit was found containing artefacts signifying Med domestic refuse. This comprised abundant charcoal fragments , butchered and burnt animal bone and 57 sherds of late C12 Fine Shelly and Nottingham Sandy Splashed ware pottery, largely representing cooking pot forms.
