Full Description

The watching brief discovered numerous modern features including a C20 cess pit, 1950s or 1960s concrete sewer, brick built sewer (C19 at the earliest), a modern wall and brick floor, various fragments of C19 - C20 pottery and glass and also much rubble used to level the site, which included dumped broken dressed stone. This must presumably have been the result of the turn of the century church extensions, these pieces being stonework that broke when it was virtually or partially completed. (1) (2)
