Full Description

A comparatively large amount of (largely abraded) pottery spanning the medieval period was recovered during fieldwalking. The material is evenly distributed and is characteristic of intensive ploughing throughout the medieval period. A small amount of C10 to C12 material is present. The majority of pottery on site dates to C13, possibly into early C14. A small number of sherds have been designated 'late medieval' but are unlikely to post date mid C14. Mostly of Nottingham type with a smaller number of vessels that can be termed 'local'. (1)
Grid reference roughly centred in middle of area walked, see (1) for full details of distribution.
See L11601 for flints, L11602 for Ro pot, L11604 for P Med finds from fieldwalking.
