Full Description

Pipeline trench A1. A pit or similar feature with U-shaped profile in Section 2. A NE - SW orientated ditch, c 1.7m wide and c 0.24m deep, in Section 3. The upper fill contained a significant quantity of fired clay lumps, coarse charcoal and a few very small fragments of animal bone. Some degraded but undiagnostic pottery sherds. A ditch under a possible flood bank in Section 1. Another possible ditch, again orinetated NE to SW, in Section 4. It appeared to have a V shaped profile. A well-defined posthole in Section 5, 0.32m deep, contained charcoal fragments and a large rounded stone. (1)
