Full Description

Watching brief during topsoil stripping. Furrows surviving from ridge and furrow cultivation, immediately below the topsoil. A complex series of re-cut ditches lay at the E border of this cultivation, orientated approx N-S. The few sherds of pottery recovered suggested the sequence began in the late Saxon period and continued into Med. A gully and a roughly rectangular arrangement of post holes, which produced a few sherds of late Med or early P Med pottery, were found on the dune top, cutting ridge and furrow. (1)
See L11963 for ?IA boundaries on a similar alignment to eastern ditches.
