Full Description

Site 2 - The spread of the highest outcrop has created the impression of a long mound running E - W. This has the appearance of a prehistoric long barrow or cairn, but given the nature of the geology it is more likely to be natural in origin. However, because of its shape, one cannot rule out the possibility of human use in the past as a burial site. Parallel to the mound's N side are three low terraces. These may be the remains of lynchets, or they may merely reflect the underlying geology. (1)
See L12071 for nearby ditches, L12072 for clearance cairn, L12073 for round mound, L12074 for possible enclosure.
