Pale grey clay, remnant of prehistoric ground surface. A narrow gully shared the orientation of the pit alignment. Trench 18, relatively high density of archaeological features. L shaped ditch, a gully branched off this. The ditch recut on one occasion. 12m S, a second ditch with parallel orientations. Two small pits or post holes. . At the S end of the trench a complex of related features. NE - SW ditch, U shaped recut c.2m wide. Two post holes abutted the N edge. 0.6m beyond, a parallel narrow gully.
