Full Description

Here was formerly a large manor house. The fence wall which remains is of considerable substance and is extensive. A gateway of stone is also remaining. (1)
The site of the Med manor house was found in ploughing old grassland in Kingston Park a few years ago. Foundations, tiles and pottery (some C17 - (2)) were found and examined by staff from Nottm Univ. It was then stated to be the Med predecessor of the present Kingston Hall. (3) (4)
Area under pasture; there is no surface evidence of a former building or finds indicative of occupation. The boundary wall is no longer extant. The present Hall is C19. (5) Fieldwalking by Mr A Seamen produced Med and P Med pottery. Stamford ware found included a rouletted inturned bowl rim. Other finds include iron, glass, a bone pin and Med roofing tile. (6)
