Full Description
Irregular mounds (Med ?). (1)
Situated in 2 fields known as the "Granges", are the remains of a pond bay and the probable remains of a moat. (2)
Reference to grange of Garendon Abbey at Costock. (3)
The E side of the possible moat appears to be an old stream meander. (4)
This is a much disturbed area of short pasture in which early plough, fields, field roads, a pond bay and water courses are all evident. No archaeological features of note are now to be seen. The field name suggests that this might well be the site of the early Grange but no substantiating evidence was found. (5)
