Full Description

Swansea Bridge, 3/4 mile (1.21km) E of where the M1 crosses the A609, is well preserved and is made of stone. At this bridge there are both stop grooves and planks and stop gates. It is unusual to find both features at one place. The stop gates are on the N side of the bridge and are in good condition. The stop planks and grooves are under the middle of the bridge. The grooves have survived on both sides of the waterway. There are 2 stop planks on position and they, too, are in good condition. (1)
