Full Description

St Michael's Church, Bramcote. C14 short 4 stage tower of ashlar with buttresses, traceried belfry windows and crenellated. Remainder of church demolished in 1861. New church contains transferred C13 font. (1)
Tower now stands within the grounds of (Theological College) Nottingham University; it is well maintained by the University. (2)
Timber sampling of 12 cores in 1994 produced at felling date of c.1590. (3)
Conservation and relocation of monumental stonework for display in the tower took place in 2018 (4)
A surviving church tower dates from the C14. Left standing when the rest of the church was demolished in 1861. (5)
