Full Description

Gypsum mine, 1832-1895 and later. In hillside N of Gotham village (path access by side of British Legion Club), Weldon Mine. Now used as a store by British Plasterboard. Several deep tunnels. Old explosive reserve in hillside. Old packhorse track to Barton Ferry and Thrumpton Ferry. (--/12/1964). (1)
OS map from 1900 shows Weldon Mine with two disused mines adjacent, Brick Yard, railway line, plaster mill. (2) OS map from 1884 shows all features apart from the railway which could date to c.1900. (3)
