Full Description

Rectangular enclosure, probable moat, with overflow channel running down to nearby stream. Ridge and furrow parallel to E boundary in field to E. (1) (2) (3)
Stood as an earthwork until levelled by farmer in late 50s/early 60s. (4)
Moated Manor House. Permission to excavate granted in February 1953. (5)
A square ditch work can be seen on top of the rig. (6)
This feature seems to have either cut through rig and furrow or have had that superimposed on it. The field is now flat ploughland. Nothing of interest was seen on the ground. Houldsworth was not available for comment and no record could be found of an excavation. (7)
A ploughed out homestead moat is visible on an AP. (It is assumed that this refers to the same site, though the grid ref is different, perhaps due to one incorrect digit). (8)
Morph: Group 71.1.1 - 71.1.4 interpreted as Medieval Settlement. (9)
See L870 for nearby cropmark trackway.
