Full Description

Deserted Med village of Saxondale. On APs nothing much showing except strip cultivation. Site apparently each side of A52. (1)
Saxenden 1086. This is probably from OE Seaxna denu, "Saxon's valley", denoting some isolated Saxon settlement in this Anglian territory. (2)
Earthworks include house platforms, terraced areas, hollows and ridge and furrow. (3)
