Full Description

A plaster works by the side of the disused Grantham canal has 2 bottle kilns of the shape that is usually found in the pottery industry. These are known as Roberton kilns (after their Scottish builder) and are used to dry gypsum. They are fired from the outside and are of the downdraught type. Built early (1st quarter) C20. Still in use but probably obsolescent. (1)

Gypsum Works and Wharf - Brick and tile. Brick is whitewashed. Chimney at one end, loft door, timber revetting. No exterior winding machinery. (4)
